This is the website of a general legal practice based in Prague. The practice works in the areas of Czech law that small and medium businesses and private individuals encounter most often: company matters, commercial contracts, employment, property, and the administrative procedures that surround all three.
What this site is for
The main purpose of the site is the notes section, which sets out how various parts of Czech law work in general terms. Czech legal procedure is well documented in Czech and considerably less well documented in English, and a good deal of what circulates in English is either out of date or was written about a different jurisdiction entirely. The notes here aim to describe the general shape of a rule rather than to tell any particular reader what to do.
How the practice works
The practice is small. Matters are handled by the lawyer who took them on rather than passed down a chain, and the working languages are Czech and English. Most of the work is unglamorous and procedural: incorporating an entity correctly the first time, drafting a lease that will survive a dispute, getting a filing in before a deadline that is not negotiable.
